On 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟱𝘁𝗵, we are holding a travel-themed edition of Cuéntame inspired by the gross cultural misunderstanding of Cinco de Mayo: 𝘽𝙖𝙙 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩.

Travel can be a force for good, but too much tourism and too little understanding creates friction between locals and visitors. But often these mistakes can lead to wisdom.

This month, we’re opening a space to tell stories of the times that we were “bad tourists” by accidentally offending the locals OR how bad tourists have affected our communities — and what lessons we can learn from this.

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 — cultural gaffes, hilarious misunderstandings, and experiences that challenged our preconceptions —  and 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣.
